Salt Lake City Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Steven Mobley Offers Free Ear Pinning to Utah Children Bullied for Their Ears

The Mobley Foundation for Charitable Surgery is a 501(c)(3) charity that Dr. Steven Mobley, a Salt Lake City, Utah, facial plastic surgeon, founded in 2006 to provide free ear pinning surgery for children who are bullied or teased because of prominent ears and whose families could not otherwise afford the operation. Dr. Mobley knows that experience firsthand: he was teased about his ears throughout grade school and had otoplasty himself at age 19, after his freshman year of college. Since 2006, he has performed free ear pinning surgery for dozens of children through the foundation. He donates his surgical fee and accepts no pay for running the foundation, and the foundation pays the surgical facility and anesthesia fees.

"I was teased about my ears all through grade school and had otoplasty at 19," said Dr. Mobley. "I've been exactly where these kids are. Giving that confidence back is why I started the foundation."

Children ages 6 to 18 can qualify for free otoplasty through the Mobley Foundation for Charitable Surgery, founded by Salt Lake City, Utah, facial plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Mobley, when a teacher, counselor or school administrator has documented that the child has been bullied or teased about his or her appearance. Dr. Steven Mobley, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Salt Lake City, Utah, wrote the otoplasty chapter in Bailey's Head & Neck Surgery–Otolaryngology, one of the textbooks surgeons train on.
